staying home and staying fit is a true challenge for most of us. however, for our mental health, physical health, immune system, and emotional needs, moving our bodies is essential and should be part of our daily routine.

i am so grateful for the instructors and studios that are providing at home workouts for all of us. their dedication and passion for fitness not only keeps us moving but motivated; creating that sense of community that we crave and attend class for. a community that is supportive but also a large part of our social interaction while we stay home behind our computers and phones for the time being.

with that said there are a lot of workouts available right now; from ones you have to pay for, to free live workouts on instragram, zoom workouts and youtube. it's easy to become overwhelmed, not knowing how long to workout for, or what to do first, which day... i've been there. so let's break it down together shall we? i'm going to give you my list of go-to workouts, ones that are free to paid for classes and memberships.

monthly or yearly membership:

melissa wood health is having a major moment right now. her website offers workouts that are 20 minutes to ones that are 45 minutes. the website offers meditations as well as yoga / sculpt workouts, creating long lean lines. this is very low impact and wonderful for those of us with sensitive joints, past or current injuries etc. her workouts are effective and her soothing voice and perfect sequencing will leave you feeling energized and good.

alo moves i am obsessed with this online community. their classes range from yoga to mindfulness, strength training, high intensity intervals, as well as targeted workouts for your core or glutes etc. they offer a two week free trial, and have the option for members to filter by fitness level from beginner to advanced. i've been using this app for three weeks now, and it's kept me accountable physically but also together mentally and emotionally during this pandemic.

pay per class:

most studios are offering classes at low prices, typically ranging from $12 - $20. check out your studios that you frequently visit for more information.

as a Lagree instructor I have been doing the SLT style at home workouts for $20 per class. these are 'off the mega' moves to target specific areas of the body, and those slow twitch muscle fibers.

Tracy Carlinsky, previous Bodyburn owner and current Master Lagree instructor offers classes on Zoom for $12. similar to the SLT at home workouts but with a little more equipment and a more personalized approach. her classes are intense, motivating, and will push you to your limits.

Conor Kelly, Soulcycle master instructor offers 45 minutes workouts through Zoom on his website that are guaranteed to get your heart up! these workouts are cardio and strength training combined.

free live + zoom workouts:

AARMY instagram does free live workouts every single day from EMOM's to 400 abs, and a bootcamp. if you own an at home bike there is also a cycling class every day.

Dogpound a NYC based gym that trains models and athletes offers free LIVE workouts on their instagram as well. many times they will do the workout with clients to make it more fun! check their schedule for more information.

Rumble's instagram offers live classes for those of you boxing junkies! check out for some fun ways to get your heart rate up and maybe some aggression out..

Camnorsworthy on instagram offers pilates and barre style workouts most weekdays. she posts her schedule every sunday! similar to melissa wood health, these are effective workouts that also make you feel good. i take her classes 2x a week minimum.

Callie Gullickson is a RUMBLE instructor and an instructor you'll find on Alo Moves. She offers instagram LIVE workouts as well as weekly challenges. She also offers privates and paid for classes on her website.

Marisa Berardo, westchester SLT instructor and manager offers zoom workouts 3x a week that are megaformer based. she adds elements of cardio like jumping jacks and high knees, factoring in various heart rates throughout the 45-60 minute routine. this workout targets slow twitch fibers, creates long lean lines, and will push you in ways other workouts can't. i take her zoom live workouts 1-2x a week.

Julie Ferrer, a soulcycle instructor, offers free Zoom classes at 9:30am most mornings. the classes are free and available at any time through this link. these are guaranteed to get your heart up! her workouts include some cardio, legs, abs, and arms, similar to a bootcamp class.

many instructors are posting to their fitness instagrams, including myself, of ab series, glute workouts, EMOMS. HIIT etc. with information in the description of how to complete the workout.

Youtube:

there are so many workouts available on youtube, just type in what you are looking for and lots of options will pop up. i would highly recommend doing a little research to make sure the person is certified. there are many influencers that post their workout with little to no knowledge of human anatomy or sports science.

Paste Magazine did some research for you, so here are 10 that you can find on there that are reputable!

what do my days look like?

i like to start my day with a meditation on Alo Moves.

depending on how my body feels, i will either do a second Alo Moves workout: looking for a workout that fits my time frame, level, and type of workout i want or am feeling that day.

some days i head to AARMY to get in 10 minute EMOM + 400 abs before beginning a more full body workout

other days i delve into a pilates style class or choose to take either Julie or Conor.

Dogpound workouts have been short HIIT for the most part so i like to use these when i am low on time or don't feel like working out.

you can always hit the pavement too or run the stairs in your apartment building. get creative, switch it up, & have some fun!
